Six Things to do before going after your Jericho Walls

 By Jaisam Daniel
Entering the promised land was the dream come true for the Israelite’s. They crossed the Jordan river miraculously led by the presence and power of the ark of God carried by the priests. Immediately after entering their promised land, the first thing they saw was a giant wall staring at them, Yes the giant, imposing Jericho Walls!!! The more they looked at them their minds started measuring the length, height and width of the walls. Every passing day it seemed the walls grew bigger and stronger. May be in their minds the walls spoke to them “You can’t cross me, not just now, but never!”
Life brings tough times and we overcome them. But some are not normal problems, they grow bigger and more complicated day by day. They become our Jericho walls. That’s how you and me stare at our biggest problem, the more we look they grow big and become more complex. But before going after their Jericho walls, the children of God camped at God’s camp ground at Gilgal (Joshua 5). They did six things before going after their walls
  1. Remember, What God has done for you before? – They build a memorial for the miracle of crossing the Red Sea. For all of us God has done many great miracles in the past, record them, build memorials and remember them, they build our faith to go after our walls today.
  2. Stop following your fleshly ways, and follow the spirit – Joshua circumcised the children of Israel. God can’t help us bring down the walls, when we still continue to live in our worldly ways. Allow him to remove the fleshly ways and follow the Spirit.
  3. Communion  With God – The people of God celebrated the Passover after a long time, they didn’t celebrate it all through their wilderness. Spending more time with him and communion with him in prayer, makes God bigger in your mind than your walls. Until we believe our God is bigger and mighty than our walls we will not go after them.
  4. Grow up in Maturity to do what’s Right – For the first time after forty years eating manna, they planted, worked hard and harvested and ate solid food from their promised. God wants us to grow up in maturity and do the right things even if it’s painful and fearful. It gives courage to go after your walls.
  5. Come under the Commander – Joshua the commander of the army came under the commander of the Lord’s army Jesus Christ. Jericho walls can’t be brought down my human strength, they come down by the power of God, it’s a good thing to come under him. Allow God to lead you, he will bring down your walls.
  6. Trust the Promise From God –  The Lord said to Joshua, “I have given you Jericho, it’s kings, and all its strong warriors”. Have you heard from God about your problems?  God’s promises are like checks we take it to the bank, they will have a beneficiary name, they will have a date when you can cash in and they also have amount of power you need to get the Job done.
“God’s promises are like checks we take it to the bank, they will have beneficiary name, they will have a date when you can cash in and they also have amount of power you need to get the Job done.”
Joshua 6:2 – “But the Lord said to Joshua, “I have given you Jericho, its king, and all its strong warriors.”
May be today you are facing your biggest challenge in your life. God gives you the promise of Victory  to bring down your walls. Follow these principles before you go after your Jericho Walls. God has not brought you this far to get stopped these walls, but to cross them and take your blessing.

Celebrate Moms – Eve The Mother of all Living – Part 1

 By Jaisam Daniel
“Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise:”  – Ephesians 6:2
Exodus 20:20 “Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
  • For all of us today is Mother’s Day. But for moms,  all the days are Mother’s Day.
  • A mother never ceases to be a mother. no matter how much we have all grown up.
  • Honoring mothers is the single most important thing we can do to live an abundant life!
  • “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise.
  • Children will not be blessed if they don’t honor their father and mother. Especially mothers today.
How to honor Moms?
  • Value moms as of great Price.
  • Honor moms as Precious.
  • Esteem your mother.
  • Treat moms especially dear
  • Treat moms with high respect
Celebrate Moms! Today we will look at the life of the first woman in history ”
Eve – The Mother of All Living“. Genesis 3:20 – “Then the man Adam named his wife Eve, because she would be the mother of all who live.”
  • Eve is the first woman, first mother, first wife.
  • Adam names his wife Eve – meaning – life or living – Adam’s name means red dirt.
  • What a great husband Adam was, he said I might be dirt, but my wife Eve is “Life”.
  • Adam said she will be mother of all who live.
  • Adam named her Eve, even though she was not a mother at all at that time. She was not even pregnant yet.
  • Adam acted in faith trusting God’s promise “Be fruitful and multiply”
So what can we learn from Eve – Our First Mother?

1. Moms are created in the image of God

  • God created human beings in his own image. Both male and female, both Adam and Eve –  “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female HE created them” – Genesis 1:27
  • Moms you’re created in the image of God. Moms you are not less than dad in a family, you hold a very important role in the family.
  • God views both Adam and Eve as the same and named both of them as “Adam”, only Adam named his wife Eve – Genesis 5:2, ”  Male and female created HE them”; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, on the day they were created.
  • Many times in the Bible, God refers to himself as a comforting mother – I will comfort you… as a mother comforts her child.” – Isaiah 66:13. “Like a nursing mother who will never forget her child” – Isaiah 49:15.
  • Since you are created in HIS image, God can identify with your love, emotions, pains for your children

God, Why are you taking me this way?

 By Jaisam Daniel
Exodus -13:17-18 When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle.
On our way to church last week, I took a detour to stop by the local supermarket to pick up some snacks for our Church. My toddler son noticed the detour and asked me “Daddy, why are you going this way?” Yes, he knows the way to the church and wants to know why this way? If you have lived long enough, I am sure you  have asked this question many many times, “Why God? Why? Why are you taking me this way?”.  Many times in life we are willing to walk through the hard ways, if only we know the reason WHY.
Why Roundabout Way?
In the above passage the Bible says, God delivered his people from slavery in Egypt and led them to their Promised land, but, God did not lead them along the main road or the shortest route. In today’s world we want everything fast; fast food to eat, fast computer for work, fast lanes for queues etc. The world has invented it’s GPS – Global Positioning System to take us quick and fast to our destination. In Short, for the GPS generation, God did not lead them following world’s ways, on the shortest GPS route from Egypt to Canaan. Instead,  He led them in a roundabout way… His way. As a child of God we should remember, in this ever changing world, God and His ways always remains the same. God’s ways are higher and better than our ways.
Isaiah 55:9  – “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
May be today, in the fast changing life lanes, you too are waiting and wondering, why it is taking so long, why this roundabout way, how long should we wait for a child, how long should I wait for my promotion, how long should I wait for my financial blessing, how long should I wait for my healing, or why can’t I receive my blessing now?
Five Reasons for Roundabout way are…
  1. God wants to teach his Godly ways : God wants you to unlearn the world’s shortcuts and learn His just and right ways.
  2. God longs for intimacy with you: God wants to talk with you and reveal himself to you on this long roundabout way.
  3. God knows your strength and weakness and determines the way for your Journey.
  4. God is protecting and saving you from bigger troubles along the way.
  5. God doesn’t want us to return to our old ways quickly so he takes us the roundabout way.
Now comes the good news for you who is walking in God’s roundabout way. The Bible says “The Lord went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. – Exodus 13:21″
Yes, fortunately for us God has given us his GPS – “God positioning System”. God moved in front of the people night and day. All they needed to do was just follow Him. Our God wants to lead us to our promised land, not just free us from bondages.
If you trust him and follow him you will reach your destination safely…

Desperately Touching Jesus – Part 1

Woman Praying Web Banner
 By Arlene Mackintosh
Luke 8:43-44 – And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
The Torah or Jewish law says, And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.
Twelve years, shunned by her family, alone, weak, no help from doctors, no money left, really desperate. I have found in my walk with the Lord that desperate produces faith and faith moves God. It’s good to be desperate for God’s touch, His deliverance, anything from Him. It’s all good.
This woman was told by doctors to: “Take of gum Alexandria, of alum, and of crocus hortensis, Take Persian onions nine logs, boil them in wine, and give it to her to drink: Set her in a place where two ways meet, and let her hold a cup of wine in her hand; and let somebody come behind and affright her, and take a handful of cummin and a handful of crocus, and a handful of faenu-greek; let these be boiled, and given her to drink,.
1. She Had Suffered Socially – She could not be married, because, through physical contact, she would defile her husband. If she had ever been married, her husband would have been forced to divorce her. She could not work around others because of the danger of defilement. This reduced her to a life of begging scraps of food from a distance. Her condition left her on the fringes of society.
2. She Had Suffered Emotionally – Since the Bible says that she had been this way for 12 years, and considering the average life span in those days, it is safe to assume that she has probably been this way since just after puberty. She has lived her life moving from one rejection to another. She is lonely, isolated and desperate
3. She Had Suffered Religiously – Under the Law, Lev. 15:19; 25-27, this woman was to be considered unclean. Anything or anyone that she touched was also considered unclean. As a result, she could not mingle with people in public, lest she cause them to be defiled. She could not go to the Women’s Court of the Temple, because she was unclean.
4. She Had Suffered Financially – The Bible tells us that she had “spent all she had”. The quack doctors and their useless remedies had not helped her. All they had done was drain her bank account dry. She has been left penniless and destitute.
Her Sorrow – After all the years, all the doctors, all the times she had hoped this remedy would be the one that would work for her, she has come to the place where she knows she is living under a death sentence. She will not get better, but she will die all alone from this disease. What she has will kill her. Her life is literally draining out of her body little by little, day by day. I have no doubt she has just about given up!
She is a picture of that believer who is laboring under a heavy burden. Many of God’s children are discouraged and defeated today. You have tried everything in your power to get better. You have tried everything you know to handle your problems. You’ve read all the books, listened to all the preachers, and gotten advise from the best of sources, but you are no better. Your life is just as messed up as it ever was. Well, friend, if that is you today, keep on listening, because as we watch this poor woman get the help she needs, we are going to find out about the help we need as well.
And then this woman heard about the Healer. In her weak and weary state, desperate for healing. She broke the law and reached for Grace. Unheard of !!!!Today we too can reach and touch Jesus in our desperation. Yes our Desperation  moves God. And he responded…
Psalm 34:6 – “In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened;”

You are a Midwife Today

Kids Website Banner
 By Jaisam Daniel
A few years back one of my friends invited my wife and I to his home for a prayer gathering.  They were expecting a baby in a few months. It was kind of like a baby shower, and as is common in our culture, we were invited as a family. My friend wanted me to share a message from God’s word and pray for a safe delivery. He and his wife had lost their first child in the womb and were anxious all through this pregnancy. I promised him that we would be there.

The day to visit their home arrived quickly, but I still didn’t have any word to share. On that morning, I was in prayer asking God, “What is this childless man going to share today for this wonderful couple?” Yes, at that time, my wife Mercy and I were childless.  After four years of marriage we were waiting and longing for a child in our own lives. Whenever we went to family parties many would ask about our children. Though they would ask innocently, it would trigger longing emotions in me to hold our own child in my hands.

It was that morning, when on my knees, and in his unique way, the Lord gave me a promise in the word. He addressed two issues (double edged sword) from Exodus 1:19, “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women,” the midwives replied. “They are more vigorous and have their babies so quickly that we cannot get there in time.” He told me that, “You are a Midwife Today!, Go and help bring forth godly children”. On that day, in the prayer meeting, we prayed over them. I shared God’s word and encouraged my friend’s wife assuring her that she would have a safe delivery. I cited God’s word, “Because God is with her, she is strong enough in the Lord to bring this child safely into the world.” After a few months I heard from my friend that his wife had delivered a beautiful little baby boy. It was a joy to hold that boy in our hands.

This greatly encouraged my wife and I in our journey of love and our walk with the Lord. We continued spending more time visiting friends and families helping them in raising their children. In those days, whenever I lifted a child, I would be reminded that I am a midwife to help raise this child and to be a godly example. Our yearning for a child turned into joyful celebrations of new lives all around us.

If you are wondering what happened to my wife and I, the midwife story does not end there. The Bible says in Exodus 1:20-21, “So God was good to the midwives, and the Israelites continued to multiply, growing more and more powerful. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own. Yes, indeed the Lord was good to us and gave us our own child! Three years after this, Mercy and I received Nathan, our first child who is now 2 years old and growing up quickly. What’s more, as you read this article, we will be holding another boy child. My wife is due with our second child next week. Oh my goodness, we serve a faithful God! Just one word from the living God can transform us to lives of blessing to others.

The Christian life can be lived with great purpose as you see a need in those around you and help meet their need. Today you might be waiting for a blessing in your life from God. God wants you to be a midwife and help people in need. Living a midwife life today, will alleviate your pain in waiting!

The One who promised you will be good to you too.
